A catalogue of inscribed objects from
Nimrud created by Christopher Walker and a group of volunteers at the
British Museum.

Key to catalogue fields

In the Pager listing:
- ID
- A stable running number identifying the database record. Records may be added or deleted from this database, but each record ID stays unchanged. For instance ID
1104
always refers to the tablet ND 4342 = IM 67547 = CTN 4, 98. You can use this ID to link stably to the item view, whether in print or online, e.g., http://oracc.org/nimrud/ood/noid/1104.
- The
ID
field also acts as a link to the Item View page, which contains more information about the artefact.
- Designation
- The excavation number of the artefact. Objects which do not have an excavation number are catalogued with designations such as
Unnumbered tablet

- Description
- A brief description of the artefact, e.g.,
writing board

- Location
- Gives the current institional location of the artefact, where
known, including museum number, e.g.,

- Some Nimrud artefacts were given supplementary letters, e.g.,

- Object
- A brief classification of the type of artefact.
- Material
- The primary material(s) from which the artefact was made, e.g.,

- Provenance1
- The primary archaeological locus where the artefact was found, usually a building or a room within a building. The main abbreviations are:

- More precise information on the artefact's archaeological findspot, where known.
- Description
- A brief description of the artefact, e.g.,

- Dimensions
- The measurements of the artefact, where known.

- Date
- Date BC of inscription, where known.
