Rulers of Assyria

BM 118885

The table below presents the chronology of the principal rulers of Assyria at the end of the third millenium BC to the last decade of the seventh century BC. Reconstructing an absolute chronology, one that measures the exact chronological distance to present time, is still problematic for ancient Assyria (especially for the first half of the second millenium BC). Although several different chronologies have been proposed, the dates used here generally follow those of E. Frahm (in ibid., A Companion to Assyria, Hoboken: Wiley-Blackwell, 2017, pp. 613-616).
