Lord of lords, [. . .]

Father, who be[got] the great [gods],

Lord of fates [and] (divine) plans,

Commander of the heavens and earth, lord of the lands,

Who renders the verdict, whose command cannot be overturned,

[Who] determines the fates of all [the gods]:

[On account of] the evil of a lunar eclipse, which occurred in month (unspecified and) day (unspecified),

And evil, unfavorable signs (and) portents,

[Which] occurred in my palace and my land---

[At] your [spe]aking, humanity was born,

Of king (and) governor, you speak their names.

Because creating divinity and king

is within your power (lit. is with you),

And (because) you make the weak equal to the strong,

[Among] the multitude of stars of the heavens,

O my lord, I trust in you!

[At] your appearance, I have given you my attention.

Determine a fate of life for me!

Command a good name!

Carry away evil; grant me what is good.

Set over me your great protective force.

May [god] and king value me,

May [lord] and prince do what benefits me (lit. do that of my goodness).

May my (ill-wishing) onlooker be ashamed on my account.

May my order be heard in the assembly.

May the protective spirit of ordering, hearing, and accepting

Walk along with me daily.

According to your august command that cannot be changed,

And your reliable affirmation that cannot be overturned!

It is the wording of a lifted-hand prayer to Enlil.
