1Ebeling suggests ṣ[i-i-ru] (1953: 114; CAD Š/1, 334), but this is epigraphically questionable; see the copy in AOAT 34 67. Perhaps we should read EN ta!-[ḫa-zi], "lord of battle."
2The restoration follows a suggestion in Geers's notes (Heft AC, 18). The first epithet in the line may mean "who makes opposing forces comply" (so CAD M/2, 137), but I wonder if it refers to the celestial phenomenon of conjunction: "who approaches conjunction." (speculation requiring more research)
3Reading [e]r-šu, "wise," here is uncertain. This is Geers's own reading (see Heft AC, 18 for his transliteration), which takes into account the parallel in Si.79 + Si.115. His copy of the latter (see Heft AC, 17) in our line seems to present something more like a NI than ER, though. Reading ne₂-šu, "lion," may fit the context better.
