If you process 2 seahs of reed [oil]; 2 seahs of its canes together with its tubāqānu-green (is necessary).

If you are about to wash it; you will place a large bowl made of ahtaṣu, you will heat dried herbs with fresh and good water from the well belonging to ... the palace of the inner city.

You will transfer it into a harû-vessel, your will pour 1 qû of amomum, 1 qû of flowers, 1 qû of sieved myrtle ... in this water inside the harû-vessel.

This is your slag. As is the water, take and divide it!

You will do that of the sunset, that of the evening rest; it will stay the night and become soft.

At the dawn, at sunrise, you will sieve this water and perfumes with a cloth inside a hersu-vessel.

You will clear it from inside this hersu-vessel to inside a second hersu-vessel.

You will discard the residue, you will wash 3 qû broken sedge(-tubers) in the water of these aromatics. [You will discard] the coarse parts.

You will put down 3 qû of myrtle and 3 qû of sieved crushed reed in the water of these aromatics inside the hersu-vessel.

You will measure this [40 qû of water] that stayed overnight with the aromatics.

You will sieve with a sieve 1 qû of combed gullu-bowl(?) with inside of almond-tree wood, 2 cups (measured) by a small wooden cup made of wood of the incense-tree.

You will collect the oil inside a herû-vessel [...].

With water [...].

[you will discard] what is inside the large bowl, [you will wash it and wipe it clean].

[This] is the washing [for the third time].

At the fourth time of pouring you will heat the powdered herbs [in fresh good water from the well]. You will pour it in a hersu-vessel.

You will cast 1/2 a qû of cane, 1/2 a qû of myrtle, [broken and sieved], in the heated water [inside the hersu-vessel].

It will stay overnight and become soft. [At dawn, at sunrise you will sieve] this [water] and aromatics [with a cloth inside a hersu-vessel].

[You will clear it from] inside the hersu-vessel [into a second hersu-vessel] and you will discard the residue

You will measure out [the 3 qû of cane and 3 qû of myrte, broken and] sieved, 40 qû of water that [stayed overnight with the aromatics].

[You will treat] this cane and myrtle [as previously].

You will heat the fire. The water [will be heated as it is to be mixed].

You will pour the oil inside, [you will stir it with a stirring instrument].

If the oil, water and aromatics [entered together], flow over in each other, you will not sprinkle(?) it vigorously].

You will gather [fire] that is under the large bowl.

It stays for 2 [or 3 days ...] ... [you will heat the fire].

You will scrape off [with your hand] this, that stood overnight with the water.

[You will examine] the hinhinnu-spice, you will discard [its bad parts].

You will sieve this water [with a cloth inside a hersu-vessel] and you will clear it.

You will pour this water, that you cleared, [inside a hersu-vessel].

You will cast 3 qû [... and x] qû of balsem in this water, in inside the hersu-vessel. You will ignite a fire.

[You will pour the water inside] when it is heated for mixing. You will stir it with a stirring implement.

[If the oil, water, and aromatics] intermingle together, the fire [goes up, and the oil throws off foam], then you will cover the top of the large bowl and [cool it with water].

After the sun [rises] at dawn, [you will prepare a šappatu-vessel] for oil, water, and aromatics.

You will gather fire under the large bowl.

[You will discard] the water and that what came up from [inside the large bowl].

[You will wash the large bowl and wipe it clean].

[After] the sun [rises] at dawn, [if] they intermingle with each other and [the fire goes up], then you will cover [the top] of the large bowl and cool it.

You will prepare a šappatu-vessel for the reed oil, you will lay a replacement(?) cloth on top of the šapatu-vessel, and keep taking the oil.

You will sieve it [with a cloth] inside the šappatu-vessel. The sediment and residue that remains at the bottom of the large bowl, you will discard it and you will leave.

Perfume-making of 2 seahs of good oil of the upper reed parts for the head of the king, copied (from a tablet) according to the instruction of Tappūti-Bēlat-ēkalle the perfume maker.
